Northwest Area Schools Multi-District serves eight member schools by providing
CTE (career and technical education) to high school students. Multi-districts
were established in the 1970s under Chapter 13-39 of South Dakota
Codified Law. Northwest Area Schools is different from the other South Dakota
multi-districts in that the programs – including equipment, curriculum,
instructional materials, instructor, and even classroom/lab space – are brought
right to the schools. Northwest Area Schools Multi-District gets the job done by placing each of
the eight main programs in its own 14’ x 60’ mobile classroom. The mobile units
rotate every semester to another school, so a high school student will have
access to all eight programs in his or her four years of high school.

Northwest Area Schools Multi-district exists to provide students
with a foundation in career-based educational opportunities and work with the schools and communities it serves
to meet the challenges of the present and future.
